August 22-25: Clacton-on-Sea Real Ale and Cider Festival at St James’ Hall, Tower Road, Clacton CO15 1LF. More than 70 real ales, plus cider, perry, Essex wines and overseas beer, with free soft drinks for designated drivers. Details on the festival web page

August 23-25: Swansea Bay Beer and Cider Festival at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea SA1 4PE. Opening times: Thursday, 5pm-11pm; Friday and Saturday, noon-11pm. Admission £5 (£3 CAMRA members).

August 24-27: Third Sausage and Cider Festival at The Grasshopper micropub, 70 Sandon Road, Southport PR8 4QD. Featuring 20 of the UK’s best ciders.

August 25 and 26: Beer and cider festival at the Wilcove Inn, Wilcove, Torpoint, Cornwall PL11 2PG.

August 25-27: Real ale and cider festival at the Smugglers Inn, Seaton PL11 3JD.

August 30-September 1: Durham Beer and Cider Festival at Durham City Rugby Club, off Green Lane, Durham DH1 3JU. More than 30 beers and ciders. Opening times: noon-10.30pm.

August 30-September 1: Furness CAMRA Beer Festival at Coronational Hall, Ulverston, Cumbria LA12 7LZ. 80 real ales, plus ciders and perries. Opening times: Thursday, 2pm-11pm; Friday, noon-11pm; Saturday, noon-7pm.

August 31-September 2: Ross Cider Festival at Broome Farm, Peterstow, Ross on Wye, Herefordshire HR9 6QG. Local artisan ciders, plus beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks, food stalls and live music. Full details on the festival web page

September 1: SheppyFest 2018 at Sheppy’s, Three Bridges, Bradford on Tone, Taunton TA4 1ER, noon-midnight. Live music, children’s entertainment, the very best in local food, and, of course, lots of Sheppy‘s cider, in the maker’s 90 acres of apple orchards. Full details on the festival web page

September 14-16: Little Orchard Cider and Music Festival at Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm, Penhallow  TR4 9LW. Live music, entertainment and cider. Full details on the website

September 16: Cider Reimagined, a talk by writer Pete Brown and producer Little Pomona on cider history, at the Abergavenny Food Festival, 3.30pm-4.30pm. Details and tickets via the festival website

September 27-29: Great Welsh Beer and Cider Festival at Depot, Dumballs Road, Cardiff CF10 5FE. Real ales, ciders and perries, plus craft and foreign beers. Details on the event Facebook page

October 5 and 6: Ale-ing Fest 2018 at Hayling Community Centre, Station Road, Hayling Island, Hampshire PO11 0BH. Real ales, ciders and hot food at all sessions. Opening times and admission: Friday and Saturday evenings, 6.30-11pm, £8 advance tickets, £10 on the door (subject to availability); Saturday afternoon, noon-4pm, advance tickets £4, £5 on the door (subject to availability). Tickets available from the Community Centre and numerous outlets around the Island, or via the hotline (07999 537840) until 6pm on October 4, or Saturday lunchtime at the Community Centre.
